Who We Are

NyRad is a team of specialists focused on serving all aspects of the defence sector. We’re capable of providing both broad strategic thinking and measurable, action-oriented support.

At NyRad, we offer more than advice. We’re hands-on consultants who roll up our sleeves and work as an extension of our clients’ teams. We believe in cross-functional support, serving all levels of our clients’ organizations, from the highly strategic to the action-oriented tacticians.

Our Team

NyRad is a small but purposefully built team. We’ve been called strategists, consultants, fixers, and specialists. Truth be told, we’re a bit of each.

Stephanie has over 20 years of private and public sector experience in major defence procurement across several Federal government departments and as a consultant in the Canadian defence market. As Deputy Director, Value Proposition at Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, Stephanie played a crucial role in developing and implementing the new Value Proposition and Industrial and Technological Benefits policy as outlined in the Defence Procurement Strategy.

Stephanie brings a deep understanding of the development and implementation of public policy, including building domestic supply chains, negotiating international contracts, and navigating major defence procurement. She has provided strategic and practical support to clients pursuing major government procurements and business consulting to industries and associations wishing to grow their organizations and be competitive in the marketplace. Her public and private sector experience has given Stephanie a focused understanding of the new defence procurement requirements, affording her the ability to provide timely advice to clients on how best to achieve successful outcomes.

Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Ottawa and a Certificate in Systems Thinking from Cornell University. Stephanie is also the founder of a non-profit organization focused on children’s rights.

Leigha has over 15 years of consulting experience providing strategic communications, government relations, and policy advice to clients in the public and private sectors. She specializes in the defence sector and, more specifically, the industrial participation sphere, providing support across the entire procurement continuum – from project definition to proposal development to contract execution. Leigha’s strong understanding of the government procurement process, combined with her public affairs experience, provides her with unique expertise that enables her to support a broad array of clients in their pursuit of large government contracts and policy outcomes.

Leigha has supported almost every large Government Request for Proposal since Canada introduced Value Proposition in 2014. Her involvement in these pursuits has centred around the development of a strategic Value Proposition, including capture support, government relations, strategic communications, and proposal development.

Prior to starting NyRad, Leigha spent ten years with a large public affairs consultancy, where she was a Vice President in the firm’s Defence Procurement practice.

Leigha holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Queen’s University and a Post-Secondary Certificate in Public Affairs from Humber College.

As an Industrial Participation Consultant, Heather offers NyRAD’s clients strong account management expertise and current ITB management experience. Her understanding of the ITB policy and her attention to both quality and detail, positions Heather well to support NyRAD’s ITB/VP client files. While she appreciates the big picture, Heather’s willingness to do what it takes to get a job done is what clients appreciate most. Prior to joining NyRad, Heather held the role of Industry Programs Coordinator at Ultra Sonar Systems. Her deep involvement in Ultra’s domestic and international offset portfolio propelled the organization forward in its process development and strategic approach to offset management.

Heather holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with an Advanced Major in Accounting from St. Francis Xavier University.

Kalyn is a meticulous, task-driven team player with 12+ years of experience in managing and supporting client-centric business operations. Having held multiple positions in both the private and public sector, Kalyn has extensive experience in logistics, project planning, budget administration and team coordination.

Equipped with an exceptional ability to facilitate all aspects of internal and external communications and project management, Kalyn supports NyRad’s team and clients with day-to-day administrative, financial, and operational functions. Her administrative knowledge, combined with her exceptional organizational skills, allows Kalyn to achieve maximum operational impact.

Kalyn has a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Vincent Marmion

Vince is a seasoned expert in industrial policy and defence procurement, bringing over 13 years of experience from his roles with the Department of National Defence and Canada Economic Development. With a career spanning strategic policy development, project oversight, and defence industry engagement, he brings a wealth of knowledge to his work in both the Canadian and international sectors.

During his tenure at Canada Economic Development (CED-Q), a Regional Development Agency, Vince played a pivotal role in administering Canada’s Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) Policy. He was instrumental in engaging with various suppliers, ensuring compliance with ITB commitments, thereby fostering economic opportunities nationwide. Additionally, Vince served on several evaluation committees, where he assessed ITB/VP proposals across multiple Defence procurements.

His commitment to service is rooted in his extensive Army Reserve career, which began in 2001 and includes both domestic and international deployments. Vince is also a graduate of the Canadian Force’s College Joint Command and Staff Programme, where he honed his leadership and operational planning skills.

Academically, Vince holds a Bachelor of Arts from Bishop’s University in Sherbrooke and a Master of Science from Universidad Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. He is currently expanding his expertise by completing an Executive MBA at Henley Business School in the United Kingdom, which will further enhance his strategic insight into global business practices and defence procurement.

Helen has over 20 years of professional experience working with numerous public and private sector clients in the areas of strategic planning, project management, performance measurement, process improvement, governance, risk management, and internal controls.  

 As an experienced Business and Project Manager, she has delivered over 50 projects with a demonstrated history of successfully achieving project outcomes and objectives. In the last 10 years, Helen has been in a management role, working frequently with senior executives and Boards or Audit Committees to lead the execution of and assessment of strategic projects.  

 Helen’s most recent experience leading Seaspan’s ITB and subcontracts teams provided her with a deep understanding of federal government contracting, proposal development and management. Helen’s experience with partnering, subcontracting, and costing on major proposals provides our clients with deep expertise and capable hands to manage risk and cost throughout the capture and proposal process.    

 Helen holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University and is a Certified Internal Auditor.
